Our nationally-recognized program brings together high school students from across San Diego to develop leadership skills and tackle the issue of hunger in our community. On the Hand Up Student Advisory Board, teens gain valuable leadership skills, make a meaningful impact by volunteering in the community, and earn service awards that strengthen their college applications. Hand Up teen leaders travel to Sacramento for Hunger Action Day, are engaged in building community partnerships, and are regularly featured in local media publications! In the last school year, Hand Up teen leaders volunteered for more than 2,300 hours, earning the President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award and special commendation from the City of San Diego!
