San Diego OASIS, a local non-profit organization focused on successful aging and intergenerational community service, has announced that they are looking for adults ages 50+ to volunteer for their program CATCH Healthy Habits. CATCH Healthy Habits is an evidence and outcome based intergenerational program that combats childhood obesity. The mission of CATCH is to bring young children and adults ages 50+ together to learn about the ways healthy eating and exercise can affect you, no matter what the stage you are in life. OASIS is searching for adult volunteers (ages 50 and over) to go into various sites (after school programs, libraries, Boys and Girls Clubs, etc.) to facilitate an interactive, nutrition/fitness curriculum that teaches healthy lifelong habits to kids in grades K-5 during an eight week session, one-hour a week.OASIS uses CATCH (Coordinated-Approach-to-Child-Health) as a proven, kid- and research-tested program to increase healthy behaviors in children. Activities include fun games and exercises, preparing healthy snacks and learning about food choices. sandiegooasis.org
